NOTICE: We do not provide assistance for puppies or kittens except for spay/neuter vouchers.

Some exceptions apply.
Low Income and homeless pet owners that meet specific requirements. Owners must reside in Posey, Vanderburgh, Warrick or Gibson Counties in Southern Indiana.
Qualifying pets are cats and dogs that are fixed or scheduled to be fixed, except for senior pets or pets with medical issues.
Adult dogs and cats only. We do provide spay and neuter vouchers for puppies and kittens as well as adult pets. If you have a pet in crisis that is not a dog or cat, please contact us by email at packleaders@pawstreet.org
We do our best to help as many sick and injured pets as possible. We only provide vet care assistance to ESTABLISHED pets. Approval depends on the cost of treatment and whether prognosis is favorable for all non-emergency vet care and of course, amount of funds available. We also provide clients with resources such as grant referrals and fundraising ideas to help close in the money gap.
All clients seeking financial assistance for veterinarian care of a sick or injured pet must first exhaust all other resources such as CareCredit or other credit cards, savings, asking for help from family, friends and in cases where cost is high - hosting a fundraiser to help cover costs of treatments by a veterinarian.
Financial Assistance WILL NOT be approved for any medical care, diagnostic tests or treatment that has already taken place. We DO NOT reimburse clients for bills that have been previously paid. An itemized estimate of care MUST be sent to PAW STREET from a veterinarian before financial assistance can be approved.
In some cases, we cannot provide financial assistance if there is a previous balance due to the attending veterinarian.
In cases where cost will be substantial, Clients may be referred to other outside organizations that provide a portion of financial assistance for vet care. Many of our partner organizations demand that clients provide some of the payment or host a fundraiser campaign to cover a portion of the vet bill.
**In most cases, Paw Street is not able to provide financial assistance for After Hours Emergencies or Specialty Pet Hospitals.
It's important to know that we only provide TEMPORARY assistance for pets that have well established bonds and a positive history with their owners.
We do not provide assistance to new pet owners, breeders or community cat caregivers.
Qualifying Pet owners must be working OR actively seeking employment. It is crucial that pet owners can provide food and basic care for their pets most of the time. We understand that there are circumstances that make employment difficult, even impossible for some pet owners. Persons who do not work due to certain circumstances may be asked to explain their current situations and/or provide verifying documentation. Homeless pet owners must provide a referral from a local agency that provides resources for our homeless community in order to be approved for pet assistance.
All pets must be spayed or neutered in order to receive medical assistance. For pets that aren't yet fixed, we offer access to FREE spay/neuter vouchers to those with qualifying incomes. Owners are required to pay a $20 deposit when scheduling spay/neuter appointments. Exceptions are senior pets and pets with certain medical issues.
We ask that all pet owners who receive financial assistance from Paw Street to please consider donating back to Paw Street if they become more financially stable at a later time. We also encourage all pet owners who receive assistance from Paw Street Inc. to give back by volunteering in their community. To find out where you can volunteer in your community, give us a call or send us a message for a list of charity organizations that need help.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Client/Pet transportation is NOT provided by Paw Street Volunteers. Clients are expected to provide their own transportation to and from vet appointments, low-cost vaccination clinics and pet supply pickups.
